AgeVaries by source
Origin & sourcesSold mainly as carvings and towers, often from Indonesia and Brazil. 'Pink jelly agate' is a trade name.
CompositionTranslucent, jelly-like pink to lilac chalcedony and agate (microcrystalline quartz, SiO₂) with soft banding

How it forms

Silica-rich fluids filled cavities and deposited chalcedony in fine layers. Its high translucency gives the 'jelly' look, and traces of other elements and fine inclusions give the pink and lilac tints.
